New Nothing Phone (2) firmware brings various camera updates

The Nothing Phone (2) was finally unveiled earlier this week and is expected to go on sale online from Monday. Previously, sales had already started in various pop-up stores around the world. These users will now be the first to receive the first software update for the Phone (2). On the other hand, if you order online, you will see a notification the first time you switch it on.

According to the changelog, the new Nothing Phone (2) firmware seems to be quite extensive. Also on board is an update of the camera software, which adds the 2x portrait mode and motion capture with 50 megapixels. In addition, we get a revised HDR mode and there is now better image quality at zoom rates between 4x and 10x. Videos are recorded with less shutter lag and with a better stabilization algorithm. Apps from third-party providers should also benefit from the better camera quality.

The update also brings improvements to the Nothing Phone (2)’s battery and charging performance under extreme conditions. Nothing has revamped Face Unlock and the performance of the fingerprint sensor as well. Nothing also fixed some unnamed bugs and network stability should be better, too. Also, the Glyph Composer for creating and recording your own Glyph ringtones is now available on the Play Store.

You can also check the status of an upcoming Uber trip using glyphs and add widgets to your lock screen and always-on display. There are also four new wallpapers, a one-handed mode, and revamped Nothing Machine ringtones and notification tones from Nothing Phone (1). Finally, you can add the most used quick settings tiles right to your home or lock screen. The Nothing Phone (2) update comes as an OTA download and is 105 MB in size.
