Motorola opens a new page in its smartphone series with the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, which launched in India today.

Turning a new page in its smartphone lineup, Motorola capped off a major launch event in India with the launch of the Edge 50 Pro. Moto’s new premium mid-range features a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, a 1220p AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a powerful triple camera setup.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is based on a 6.7-inch curved pOLED display with a resolution of 1220p and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The panel delivers a peak brightness of 2,000 nits and is also the first smartphone with Pantone-validated colors for more accurate Colors and skin tones. The display also houses the 50 megapixel front camera with autofocus and a fingerprint sensor.

On the back, Motorola brings a 50 megapixel main camera with an f/1.4 aperture and OIS. There is also a 10 megapixel telephoto lens with three times optical zoom and a 13 megapixel ultra wide angle lens that also serves as a macro camera. The Edge 50 Pro is also the first Motorola smartphone to feature an AI Photo Enhancement Engine with optimizations for motion capture and color segmentation.

On the software side, you get Motorola’s new Hello UI interface based on Android 14, which offers generative AI capabilities for custom wallpapers. The Moto Edge 50 Pro will also be the first model with Motorola’s Smart Connect. Moto’s new Continuity features connect Motorola and Lenovo smartphones, tablets und PCs as external displays and for data synchronization. Motorola also promises 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches. The 4,500 mAh battery charges with 125 watts via cable and with 50 watts wirelessly. There is also an IP68 certification for protection against water and dust.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro prices

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is available in black and lavender. There is also a limited Moonlight Pearl Edition designed by Italian design house Mazzucchelli 1849. Prices start at INR 31,999 (€354/US$383) for the 8/256GB version and go up to INR 35,999 (€398/US$431) for the 12/256GB version. Open sales in India start on April 9. The Moonlight Pearl edition will be released on April 8 at 7 pm India time.
