The Motorola Edge 40/Moto X40 series is expected to be unveiled at an event in China the day after tomorrow, December 15. We’re expecting two devices – a base Moto X40 and a Moto X40 Pro. A 3C certification today shows that the regular X40 will support 125W fast charging, but will also get a slower 68W option.

Currently the 125 watt standard with 20V at 6.25A is the fastest on a Motorola smartphone. Both the X30 Pro and the Edge 30 Ultra use it. The XT2301-5 will be the first entry-level Moto to charge three digits, which would be a massive selling point for the device.
The information on two charging options match two entries that had already appeared at the Chinese certification agency TENAA. One with a 5,000 mAh battery, the other with 4,500 mAh. It’s safe to say that only the latter will support 125 watts, as the device requires physical space for the fast charging hardware.
