Motorola Edge 40: new images show four colors

When the Motorola Edge 40 Pro was officially presented last Tuesday, the Edge 40 basic model was actually expected to also be on stage. Instead, a new leak today brings pictures and the price after specs were already leaked last week. Unlike the Pro, which is based on the Moto X40 for the Chinese market, the new model is brand new hardware. The price has also been leaked – Motorola is said to charge €600, as opposed to €900 for the Pro.

The color of the red Motorola Edge 40 is officially called “Viva Magenta”. It was already used in the Edge 30 Fusion and was named Pantone Color of the Year 2023. That’s why you can also see the small Pantone badge on the back. The remaining colors are called Nebula Green, Lunar Blue and Eclipse Black. All versions except the blue one have a faux leather back.

The previously leaked specifications of the Motorola Edge 40 include a Dimensity 8020 chipset that can access 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The 6.55-inch OLED display resolves FHD+ and offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz. There is a 50 megapixel main camera with 1.0 µm pixels, an f/1.4 aperture and OIS. We also get a 13 megapixel ultra wide cam with 120 degrees fov and a 2 megapixel macro camera. On the front, Motorola installs a 32-megapixel selfie camera with 0.7 µm pixels and an aperture of f/2.4.

The battery has a capacity of 4,400 mAh and supports TurboPower wired charging with 68 watts and wireless charging with 15 watts. Both the faux leather and acrylic versions have an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water. The question remains when Motorola will officially present this model.
