Microsoft has announced a new variant of its affordable Xbox Series S console. The new model has 1TB of storage compared to 512GB on the standard model. It also has an all-black finish with a matching black controller, which aims to differentiate it visually from the 512GB model. The 1TB Series S costs $349 (€324), $50 more than the 512GB model, and will be available September 1st.

In general, storage for the Microsoft Xbox consoles has been made more affordable. Western Digital recently started offering expandable storage drives for these consoles. They start at $80 for the 512GB model and $150 for the 1TB version. Seagate offers the same models for $90 and $150, respectively. Seagate’s 1TB hard drive used to cost $220 and was the only option available for a long time.

In addition to more storage options, the Microsoft Xbox also gets a new controller and headset. These were developed in collaboration with Starfield, Bethesda’s upcoming open-world action role-playing game. The new controller features a white and gray color scheme with red accents. The D-Pad is gold and the shoulder buttons are transparent. The headset also has a white design with a red headband and gold accents.

The new Microsoft Xbox controller is $80 and the headset is $130. Both are available starting today.
