Facebook and Instagram users will soon be able to request new, paid Verified badges via Meta Verified. For $12 a month on the web and $15 a month for the iOS and Android subscription, you get a blue tick next to your account name for better visibility in searches, comments, and recommendations. Additionally, verified status brings identity theft protection, priority customer support, and some exclusive features.

Users in Australia (AUD19.99 web and AUD24.99 mobile) and New Zealand (NZD23.99 web and NZD29.99 mobile) will be able to purchase the new verification feature later this week. Once a user applies for Meta Verified, they must verify their identity with a government-issued ID that matches their account profile name and photo. In addition, accounts must meet minimum activity requirements for past posting history. Finally, the owner of the account must be at least 18 years old. Companies cannot yet access Meta Verified.

In addition to the badge, verified accounts also receive proactive monitoring for account fraud. The latter are a big problem on all social media platforms. Meta verified users also get exclusive stickers for stories and reels, as well as 100 star tokens (Meta’s digital currency) per month. You can use it to tip Facebook creators. Previously verified Facebook and Instagram accounts based on the old notoriety and authenticity requirements will not be changed.
