Meizu announced at the beginning of last week that it would be withdrawing from the smartphone business in order to focus all resources on AI. The company belongs to the car manufacturer Geely, which sells evs under the Volvo and Polestar brands, among others. Before the exit, at least one more model will come onto the market: the Meizu 21 Pro is here. The Pro version has a better display, a telephoto camera and a larger battery with wireless charging.

The Meizu 21 Pro is based on a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,368 x 3,192 pixels (21:9) and a peak brightness of 1,250 nits. This is an LTPO panel with a refresh rate of 1 – 120 Hz. In comparison, the normal 21 has a 6.55-inch display with an FHD+ resolution (19.5:9). The 32 megapixel selfie camera is identical.

Under the glass is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, but with 12 GB of RAM instead of 8 GB as standard. There is also a 16 GB version and storage capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

On the back, the 200 megapixel camera has disappeared and been replaced by a 50 megapixel main camera. This can record 8K videos and has OIS and EIS stabilization. To bridge the gap when it comes to zooming in, there’s a 72mm telephoto camera with a 10 megapixel sensor with 3x optical and up to 30x digital zoom. The ultrawide camera is the same with 13 megapixels, 15mm focal length and a 122-degree field of view. The fourth sensor on the back is a ToF depth scanner to improve autofocus.

The 5,050 mAh battery has a slightly higher capacity (+250 mAh) and, in addition to wired charging with 80 watts, also supports wireless charging with 50 watts.
