MediaTek has officially introduced the new Dimensity 8200 chipset. The new processor is aimed at premium smartphones and is based on a 4 Nm manufacturing process. HyperEngine 6.0, which brings the Vulkan SDK for ray tracing in games, higher FPS rates and intelligent resource optimization, should ensure superior graphics performance.

The Dimensity 8200 is MediaTek’s first 8000-series chip with a large CPU core – the main Cortex-A78 core clocks at 3.1GHz. Three additional cores offer a lot of performance with 3.0 GHz and four Cortex-A55 with 2.0 GHz increase the efficiency of the platform. The new chip establishes connections via dual 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. There is also an Imagiq 785 image processor for multiple camera streams.

The selling point, however, is clearly the HyperEngine, which can intelligently adjust the refresh rate when a game is running. The maximum displayable refresh rate has also increased slightly. However, it is still up to the manufacturers to actually use this feature on their smartphones.
The first device with the new Dimensity 8200 is already on the market – the iQOO Neo7 SE, announced today in China. Xiaomi has already announced on Weibo that an 8200 smartphone is also planned – the Redmi K60E. However, the Chinese have not yet given a specific time frame.
