According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a more affordable version of the Vision Pro headset, which is expected to launch sometime in 2025. Priced at $3,499 (€3,252), Apple’s new headset is unlikely to hit the mass market. In contrast, Facebook just unveiled its Meta Quest 3 headset for a significantly cheaper $499.99.

Gurman’s report also states that Apple originally considered delaying the Vision Pro price announcement due to potentially negative press. In the end, however, the plan to give all interested parties nine months to get used to it won. And possibly to save the purchase price, but the Vision Pro is only available in the USA so far.
The future cheap headset will probably just be called Vision or Vision One and offer a price compatible with the mass market. Apple could use lower-end displays and a less powerful chipset. The Californians could also omit some of the 12 cameras or use AirPods for spatial audio.
On the other hand, Apple will try to keep some of the core features. These include the external EyeSight display or the hand tracking system. A second generation of the Vision Pro could already be in the pipeline by the time it is released in 2025.
