Apple has added new options to its Always On Display (AOD) on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with the latest iOS 16.2 Beta 3. The new firmware brings two new AOD features: the ability to hide the wallpaper and disable notifications.

iOS 16.2 beta 3 AOD options
If the wallpaper option is disabled, the iPhone goes to a black screen in AOD mode. However, you can still see the time, date and any activated widgets. This approach is the default option on most Android phones and should result in better battery life on the iPhone 14 Pro series. Disabling notifications further reduces power consumption.
The official iOS 16.2 Beta 3 is now available for beta testers and has a download size of 679 MB. It contains various bug fixes and improvements, which can be read in the official release notes linked below.
