Apple will unveil iOS 18 on June 10 on the first day of its Worldwide Developers Conference. The next version of the mobile operating system could bring the most significant design changes in years. Several recent rumors suggest that there will be various design inspiration from visionOS, the software that runs on Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Today we get a first look at what visionOS elements could look like on iOS 18. as an alleged design resource for the mobile operating system has been leaked. The iPhone frame template seen above was submitted to MacRumors by an anonymous source. The image supposedly comes from an iOS engineer, but you should take the information with caution at first. On the right you can see the visionOS interface for comparison.

It will reportedly be part of Apple’s design resources for iOS 18, which will help developers visually design apps using software like Sketch and Photoshop. Of course, it is currently completely unclear whether the picture is real. However, the design agrees with the previously mentioned rumors that iOS 18 will have a new design with visionOS elements.

On the other hand, the usually well-informed Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says that there won’t be a complete overhaul of the iOS design this year. Therefore, the visionOS-inspired elements may not permeate the entire UI. Apple’s visionOS features many transparent elements with glass-like buttons with reflective edges. The whole thing is reminiscent of the Windows Aero design that Microsoft introduced with Windows Vista.
