The Huawei Pocket 2 is Huawei's first flip foldable with a gapless display, a 6.94-inch foldable LPTO OLED display and four main cameras.
Huawei Pocket 2

The Huawei Pocket 2 is the Chinese company’s first flip foldable with a waterdrop hinge for a seamless display design. It is also the world’s first flip phone with four main cameras on the outside. On the inside you open a 6.94-inch foldable LPTO OLED display with a FullHD resolution. The round cover display next to the camera island is significantly smaller at 1.15 inches and 340 x 340 pixels in a symmetrical double circle design.

The company stopped disclosing its chipsets some time ago. Therefore, we can only assume that the new Huawei cell phone has the in-house Kirin 9000S chipset under the hood, as usual. The RAM is 12GB with three storage options – 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. There is also a Huawei Pocket 2 Art Edition (second image) with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

The main camera on the back of the Huawei Pocket 2 has a resolution of 50 megapixels, OIS and an f/1.6 aperture. The 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera has an f/2.2 aperture and the 8-megapixel 3x telephoto lens has an f/2.4 aperture and OIS. The fourth camera is actually a 2 megapixel UV sensor. Huawei says the hyperspectral camera can detect UV levels and warn of strong intensity.

Huawei Pocket 2 with satellite communication

The Huawei Pocket 2 supports two-way satellite messaging via the Chinese satellite network Beidou. The 4,520 mAh battery is the largest in a flip phone from the company to date. In addition, for the first time there is also wireless charging with 40 watts, while wired charging reaches a fast 66 watts. A vapor chamber in the upper half ensures sufficient cooling with several layers of graphite.

The operating system is of course the latest HarmonyOS 4 with various customizations for the cover display. You can use a clock, a wallpaper, a GIF with an animated pet, or even an avatar. Of course, it also shows notifications or a preview for selfies with the main camera. And since the smartphone is launching in China first, the display can also display QR codes for smart payments.

The first flash sale is scheduled for today, February 22nd, on Huawei’s own online store The Huawei Pocket 2 in Tahitian Grey, Rococo White, Purple and Black starts at CNY 7,499 (€962/$1,040) with 256GB of storage. For 512 GB you pay CNY 7,999 (€1,026/$1,110) and for 512 GB you pay CNY 8,499 (€1,090/$1,180). The Dream Blue Art Edition is priced at CNY 10,999 (€1,411/US$1,529).
