Huawei Mate 60 gets 50 megapixel main camera

The Huawei Mate 60 series is currently in the middle of development. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the smartphone will retain the circular design of the camera module on the back. As proof, DCS posted photos of a leaked protective case on his Weibo profile. We can see a cutout that is even larger than that of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The tipster also stated that the main camera will feature a 50-megapixel sensor. That would be the same resolution as the main camera in the Mate 50 series.

The Huawei Mate 60 should keep the display’s 1220p resolution, advertised as 1.5K in China. Like the Huawei P60 Pro, the new model might also get an LTPO OLED display. The current model uses a normal OLED panel without the granularly controllable adaptive refresh rate of other flagship smartphones.

Previous reports have suggested that the company will launch a smartphone with 5G connectivity – a technology that Huawei has not been able to exploit for years now. Huawei could develop the platform jointly developed with China-based SMIC (Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation). The modem could be based on a 7 Nm process. That would be outdated these days, but more than Huawei can currently offer its international customers.
