Huawei Mate 60: back cover shows the round camera module

The Huawei Mate 50 Pro launched last September, and so far there are no signs that the usual schedule will change this year. This means that we are only a few weeks away from the official launch of the Huawei Mate 60 series. It was already revealed last week that the series will introduce Huawei’s own version of the Dynamic Island concept developed by Apple. Today, on the other hand, there are some news about the back of the Mate 60.

The leak shows the back of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro, based on the various camera cutouts. As with the Mate 50 Pro, the camera island is again circular. And thus does not adopt the new design of the Huawei P60 Pro. The only leak so far with an image (top right) is also unconfirmed, since the individual cutouts for the lenses sit in different positions.

Huawei installs at least four larger holes for the cameras. There are also various other cutouts for various sensors such as a ToF sensor. However, the positions of the cameras are different compared to the Mate 50. There are already exciting rumors that the Huawei Mate 60’s periscope zoom lens will “adopt new technology”. These rumors are particularly exciting because Huawei smartphones regularly shine with new innovations in the field of camera technology. In our Huawei P60 Pro review, for example, we were able to put the first true variable aperture in a smartphone camera to the test. Spoiler alert: the test was worth it.

The circle below the camera island should house the wireless charging coil. Some reports from the past have claimed that Huawei could forgo Qualcomm processors. Instead the Chinese mgiht use their own chipsets again. So far, though, an upcoming 4G version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 seems to be the best option.
