Honor Pad V8 with 11 inch 120 Hz display unveiled

Honor introduced its current flagship tablet, the Honor Pad V8 Pro, at the end of last year. The Pro has a 12.1-inch, 144Hz IMAX display and costs 2,600 CNY (€342/$376) with 8/128 GB. Now Honor has pushed the non-pro base model. Prices start at 1,900 CNY (€247/$275) for an 8/128 GB tablet and 2,000 CNY (260 €/$289) for the 8/256 GB variant. Pre-orders in China are already open.

The Honor Pad V8 is slightly smaller with an 11-inch IPS LCD display but retains the same resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The refresh rate has been lowered to 120 Hz. The battery is also smaller at 7,250 mAh and charges slower at 22.5 watts, while the Pro offers 10,050 mAh and 35 watts.

Interestingly, the Honor Pad V8 is the first device to use MediaTek’s new Dimensity 8020 chipset. The 6nm chip offers four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz and four A55 cores at 2.0GHz and appears to be based on the Dimensity 1100. The GPU is a Mali-G77 MC9. Android 12 is used as the operating system, including Honor’s also older MagicUI 6.1 interface. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, quad speakers with DTS:X Ultra support and a microSD slot for memory expansion are also on board. The tablet is 7.3mm thick and weighs 485g. As with the Pro model, there is vegan leather on the back, currently in gray and brown color options.

Honor offers the Magic Pencil 3 stylus and a Magic Keyboard as accessories. However, it is not yet clear whether Honor will also offer the Pad V8 outside of China. The Pro model is only available in the brand’s home country.
