Honor MagicPad 13 and Magic Watch 4 with eSIM unveiled

The star of today’s Honor event in China was clearly the new foldable Honor Magic V2. But the brand also showed off a premium tablet and eSIM smartwatch – the Honor MagicPad 13 and Magic Watch 4 are here.

Honor MagicPad 13

The Honor MagicPad 13 is based on a 13-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,840 pixels and a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. The touch sampling rate is up to 240 Hz, and the panel is also HDR10 capable and covers the DCI-P3 color space. According to Honor, color accuracy is DeltaE < 1 and peak brightness is 700 nits. Honor calls the display IMAX-enhanced, which also goes with the total of 8 speakers and 4 microphones. According to Honor, this is the industry’s first 3D surround sound setup that doesn’t require headphones.

Honor’s Magic Pencil 3 is specially designed for the new MagicPad 13. It has a skin-friendly coating and a matte texture. The pen recognizes over 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity with a latency of 2 ms. It lets you highlight objects and text, and then copy, cut, and paste them into other apps. Also, you can choose a color anywhere in the user interface, which is useful for design applications.

The Honor MagicPad 13 is also the first tablet with MagicOS 7.2 as well as the new Honor Docs and Honor Notes. The tablet is powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset with 8, 12 or 16 GB of RAM. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port is suitable for connecting hard drives as well as external monitors with 4K and 60 frames per second. The Honor MagicPad 13 also features a 13-megapixel autofocus f/2.0 main camera and a 9-megapixel f/2.2 fixed-focus selfie camera. The battery has a capacity of 10,050 mAh and charges with 66 watts.

Honor Magic Watch 4

The Honor Magic Watch 4 is the company’s first wearable to run MagicOS. The smartwatch features a 1.75-inch AMOLED display with 450 x 390 pixels and 60 Hz embedded in a 6 series aluminum body. There is eSIM support and in conjunction with the intelligent dual standby, the watch should last for four to ten days.

For fitness tracking, the Honor Magic Watch 4 supports 85 sports and 12 professional workouts. In addition, the watch should track the state of health up to atrial fibrillation, monitor for sleep apnea and, of course, analyze sleep as a whole. The Honor Magic Watch 4 costs 999 CNY (125 €/139 $), but there is an early bird discount of 50 CNY. Color options include black, gold, and blue.

The Honor MagicPad 13 is available for pre-order today in Sky Blue, Star Gray and Moonlight and goes on open sale on July 20th. The tablet starts at CNY2,999 (€376/$418) for a 8/256GB model, CNY3,299 for 12/256GB and CNY3,699 for 16/512GB. A foldable keyboard case is available for 599 CNY and the Magic Pencil 3 for 499 CNY.
