The Honor Magic5 and Magic5 Lite are slowly coming out of cover. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Honor Magic5 series is codenamed “Piaget” and has just appeared at the Chinese certification authority MIIT. The launch of Honor’s next flagship series is getting closer. Thanks to the first renderings, there are already indications of the design. According to them, the circular camera module of the Honor Magic4 series remains with some changes.

You can clearly see from the top rectangular section that one of the cameras will be a periscope zoom. This also fits the “100x” zoom label, which of course refers to the digital zoom. A lens with a 10x optical zoom should serve as the basis. However, based on unofficial information, the Magic5 series will take a different path from the Honor 80 and 80 Pro, which debuted a few weeks ago with 160-megapixel cameras.
According to DCS, the Honor Magic5 Pro and Magic5 Ultimate will get quad 50-megapixel cameras instead. The images only show a triple camera setup, so the standard Honor Magic5 should be pictured here. However, all three models are expected to be launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets.
Honor Magic5 Lite
In addition to the premium models, there should also be a cheap Honor Magic5 Lite. Exactly this model has appeared in the Google Play Console with a Snapdragon 695 chipset. The predecessor Honor Magic4 Lite used the same processor, but the successor seems to use a different version of the chip. The six Cortex-A55 cores run at 1.8 GHz instead of the standard 1.7 GHz. The two Cortex-A78 performance cores, on the other hand, clock at 2.2 GHz like in the original chip.
By the way, Honor has used this chipset before – the Honor X9 5G also clocked its small cores at 1.8 GHz. That’s because the Magic4 Lite is actually a rebranded X9. Apart from that, the GPC lists Android 12, 8 GB of RAM and an FHD+ display (1080×2400 pixels, 20:9) for the Magic5 Lite (aka Honor HNRMO-Q and RMO-NX1). The dimensions are not yet known, but the 2022 model had a 6.81-inch LCD display. According to the picture, the new model is curved, while the Magic4 Lite had a flat display.
There is no confirmed date for the Magic5 series debut yet, but some teasers on Weibo already suggested February 27th.
