Honor announced the Magic Vs in November 2022. The foldable smartphone will make its international debut on February 27 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, the company has already provided a pre-production unit to the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. It didn’t have to pass Zack’s usual durability test. But the foldable was completely disassembled into its individual parts. Not only did the rather large battery come to light, but also the functionality of the innovative hinge. The latter consists of a 4-component design in the new model, which reduces the number of parts from 92 to just 4.
Zack also reveals in his teardown video that the magnesium elements are one piece and molded into the plastic frame. This makes the hinge more durable and 62% lighter than its predecessor, the Magic V. Honor uses vertical metal fins on the Magic Vs to keep the foldable main display in one plane without major creases. This also supports the panel vertically, while the compact design keeps the entire component relatively light.

Surprisingly, the Honor Magic Vs teardown video also shows dust and water resistance around the speakers, the SIM slot, and the connecting pins between the hinge and the case. Surprising because the Honor smartphone does not have an official IP protection class. The battery is divided into two cells – one is 2,930 mAh and the other 2,070 mAh, making up the advertised total capacity of 5,000 mAh.
