Honor just announced its third generation foldable smartphone – the Magic V2 is here. At just 9.9mm when folded and 4.7mm when unfolded and weighing 231 grams, it’s the thinnest foldable on the market to date. So far, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has held this title, which measures 11.2 mm when folded and weighs 262 grams. In addition, the MagicPad 13 and the Magic Watch 4 came onto the stage.

The other new design element of the Honor Magic V2 is its gearless unibody hinge mechanism. It uses a 3D-printed titanium alloy cover developed by Honor. The folding mechanism also uses special short screws in the hinge component. There is no official protection against water ingress, but all internal elements have a P2i coating for splash protection.

The 7.92-inch LTPO-OLED main display of the Honor Magic V2 has a resolution of 2,156 x 2,344 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel is HDR 10+ capable and achieves a brightness of up to 1,600 nits in automatic mode. It also features 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming for flicker-free animation. The main display also features a 16-megapixel punchhole front camera and supports stylus input.

The OLED cover display has a size of 6.43 inches and offers 10-bit colors with a resolution of 2,376 x 1,060 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. PWM dimming is also on board, but the maximum brightness of the panel is significantly higher at 2,500 Nits. The cover display also supports pen input.

Honor installs three cameras on the back of the Magic V2. The main camera resolves 50 megapixels with an f/1.9 aperture and has OIS. There is also a 50 megapixel ultra wide cam with an f/2.0 aperture and a 20 megapixel telephoto camera with 2.5x optical zoom and also OIS.

The new Honor smartphone uses Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 as the operating system. There is also a 5,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery that charges at 66 watts via cable. The Honor Magic V2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with an overclocked Cortex-X3 main core clocked at 3.36GHz, just like the Samsung Galaxy S23 series.

The Honor Magic V2 is available in Black, Silk Black, Silk Purple, and Gold colors. The base 12/256GB model costs CNY8,999 (€1,127/$1,256), while the 12/512GB version is priced at CNY9,999. The top model is the Magic V2 Ultimate Edition with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage for CNY 11,999. Pre-orders in China begin today, while open sale is scheduled for July 20th. Honor has not yet confirmed international pricing and availability.
