Last week, Google introduced Circle to Search for the Pixel 6 series and Pixel 7a. In addition, in the same announcement, the Californians also announced that Circle to Search will offer an instant translation function in the future. Apparently the rollout has already begun. The translation is done inline, with the translated text completely replacing the original text, as you can see in the short video below.

The way it works is incredibly simple. You open Circle to Search in the usual way and then simply tap on the new translation icon that appears to the right of the Google bar. Everything is already translated.

As is usual with new Google features, it is unclear how far the rollout has progressed yet. To use it immediately, you may need to install Google’s latest beta app for Android. Of course, you also need one of the few cell phones that even support Circle to Search. This includes all Google smartphones from the Pixel 6 onwards as well as the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, S23 series, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Galaxy Z Fold5.

If you own one of these smartphones and haven’t received the translation function yet, you probably just need a little patience. Google software update rollouts can sometimes take weeks. At least the new firmware is already on the way.
