The Google Tensor G4 processor will arrive later this year and will power the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and possibly the Pixel Fold 2 as well. A new report from Korea confirmed an earlier rumor that the G4 will be produced by Samsung’s semiconductor division. A state-of-the-art 4nm process is used, even though Apple has reportedly already reached 3nm for the iPhone 16 series.

The Tensor G4 is said to have improved thermal management as well as better performance and higher efficiency. That’s good news considering the previous G3 chipset didn’t win any awards for anything related to performance. Interestingly, the Exynos 2400, which powered the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ this year, may have found significantly more satisfied customers.

Several voices in the tech world, including Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Open AI CEO Sam Altman, appear to want to become less dependent on Taiwanese manufacturer TSMC. TSMC currently has a market share of around 50%. Samsung seems ready and willing to help with this.
