The Google Pixel Fold, launched in May, supports spatial audio via wired and wireless headphones for a more immersive audio experience. Three months later we learn that Google’s first foldable smartphone also supports spatial audio via the integrated speakers.

The screenshot above on the left comes from Telegram user SageSushi, the tip from former editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers, Mishaal Rahman. Rahman shared the screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) showing spatial audio support for the Google Pixel Fold’s built-in speakers.
Anyone who owns a Google Pixel Fold and wants to try out spatial sound via the Google phone’s built-in speakers can activate spatial audio in the “Settings” menu under “Sound & Vibration / Spatial Audio”. There you simply tick the box next to the item “Phone speaker”.
However, spatial audio support for built-in speakers is only available for the Pixel Fold. The Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro also got spatial audio support earlier this year. With these models, there is surround sound support but only via wired or wireless headphones.
