The Google Pixel Fold 2 could appear at Google I/O as early as May. And apparently with a new display and the Tensor G4 chipset.

The Google Pixel Fold 2 will likely debut in May at Google’s annual developer conference I/O or in October when the new Pixel phones are unveiled. A rumor from last month somewhat hints at the latter, but there is no confirmed information yet.

The internal foldable display will be 8.02 inches in size, while the outer screen will measure 6.29 inches diagonally. At least that’s what Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants believes. Ross provided precise information about the supply chain on several occasions in the past. For comparison: The original Pixel Fold came with a 7.6-inch folding display and a 5.8-inch cover display.

Panel production for the Google Pixel Fold 2 displays will begin in April, as you can read in the tweet above. That would mean that the device will come onto the market in summer at the latest.

Recently leaked images and renders of the Google Pixel Fold 2 already showed a new design of the camera module compared to all other Pixel phones in recent times. A new aspect ratio also seems firmly planned and has been a hot topic in the rumor mill for months, as has the Tensor G4 chipset. The Fold 2’s cover display will be longer and narrower than that of the original Fold. This could alleviate the original model’s problem with apps opening in landscape mode when it is opened.
