The Google Pixel Feature Drop brings several new features to supported Pixel devices, including Circle to Search.
Google Pixel Feature Drop Call Screen

Every three months, Google releases new features for its Pixel devices, and now it’s that time again. The new Pixel Feature Drop brings Circle to Search to the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Google initially introduced the function on the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra. It has also been available on the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro since the beginning of the year.

Circle to Search works like this. You long press the navigation bar or the home button and circle, doodle, highlight or tap on an image, text or video. The Google app then spits out various information about it. The next change affects Instagram. Anyone who owns a Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro or the Pixel Fold can record and share 10-bit HDR videos directly as a reel with the new update. The same applies to Ultra HDR photos.

In the US, Call Screen can now prompt a caller to speak. You see a “Hello” icon if a caller doesn’t answer and you can ask them to speak using the Google Assistant. If you can’t answer a call right away, Google Assistant will tell the caller that it will take a little longer to reach you.

App Screen Sharing lets you share just one app at a time during a video call on Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 5a 5G, and newer Google phones. The function is useful if you don’t want to present your entire screen to the other side.

Previously used devices can be paired much more easily and quickly with the new Pixel Feature Drop. On the settings page for connected devices, you can see Bluetooth accessories that have already been set up on the new smartphone or tablet. You can then connect them via Fast Pair.

Google Docs Markups lets you add handwritten annotations to a document or task on a Pixel device using a finger or stylus. You can choose between different pen colors and highlighters.

Google Pixel Tablet and Pixel Watch

On the Google Pixel tablet, when active voice typing, the Gboard keyboard collapses into a toolbar that takes up less screen space to make multitasking easier.

The 2022 Google Pixel Watch gets a whole set of new features that were introduced on the Pixel Watch 2. With the new Pace Training you can set a target pace during an exercise. With heart zone training you can monitor how long you spend in different personal heart rate zones. These are based on resting heart rate and fitness level and offer a completely redesigned training interface. You also get auto-pause, auto-start and auto-stop for workouts. This includes running, walking, elliptical training, spinning, outdoor bike, treadmill, rowing and more.

The Fitbit Relax app with breathing exercises is also available. Same goes for Google Maps for Wear OS with public transport directions directly on the Pixel Watch. In addition to various local transport options, you also get real-time departure times and a compass map view.
