Yesterday the display diagonals of the upcoming Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro leaked, today the first pictures of the Google smartphones in protective cases have appeared. The renders do not reveal any new information that we didn’t report previously. But they confirm the design of the smartphones once again.

The Google Pixel 8 is shown in a transparent case. It looks very similar to its predecessor, the Google Pixel 7, with the two cameras behind a dark, pill-shaped glass. According to yesterday’s leak, the base model may be slightly smaller, as the display diagonal should shrink from 6.32 inches to 6.16 inches. However, this does not seem to change much in the design of the camera module – it remains a horizontal visor that protrudes from the back.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro is shown in a blue rubber case with Alcantara lining on the inside. But here, too, there is little that is new compared to the Google Pixel 7 Pro. All three cameras sit together in the visor, while Google installs the laser autofocus and the LED flash on the right side. The case also features a small loop for a lanyard at the bottom.
According to a leak from a couple of weeks ago, the Pixel 8 phones will switch to a Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor under the main camera. The chip brings some technical updates including staggered HDR photography. Staggered HDR offers a decisive advantage over normal High Dynamic Range. The camera captures the images in a significantly shorter time. This makes HDR images sharper because there is less movement during recording.
