Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7: battery problems after update

Google Pixel owners are currently reporting increasing problems with battery discharge. The problem apparently appeared after the introduction of a weekend update for the Google app and affects the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, among others. According to the reports, the Google smartphones get very warm, with the batteries being heavily discharged.

According to the Android system report, the Google app is primarily to blame for this. However, there are also some users who have reported Android System Intelligence as an issue on their Pixel 6 and 7. Those who contacted Google’s support say the recommended steps didn’t work. This includes reverting to a previous version of the Google app and even doing a factory reset.

Since neither an older app version nor a factory reset fixes the problem, it could be server related. Google has yet to officially deal with the problem and launch a patch. We haven’t been able to identify any of the issues on our Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 so far.
