Garmin has announced its latest smartwatch. The vivoactive 5 comes with a lightweight design, an anodized aluminum bezel and the familiar set of high-end fitness tracking features. There is a 1.2-inch AMOLED touch display with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The watch weighs only 23 grams and is water resistant to 50 meters.

The Garmin vivoactive 5 measures heart rate, blood oxygen, stress and sleeping habits. Sleep tracking includes personalized sleep insights and nap tracking. The Garmin smartwatch supports over 30 sports tracking apps with built-in GPS. It also tracks workout progress, suggests post-workout recovery times, and offers guided meditation sessions.

Additionally, Garmin has also added a “Body battery” that tracks personal energy levels through multiple aggregated reports. This includes data on stress, training load and recovery phases. An NFC receiver with support for Garmin Pay is also on board and you can of course pair the vivoactive 5 with iOS and Android devices.

4 GB of onboard storage is available for Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer. The Garmin smartwatch also supports notifications from paired Android phones, which can also be read directly on the display. Additional watch faces and apps are available in the Garmin Connect IQ Store. Battery life in smartwatch mode is up to 11 days.

The Garmin vivoactive 5 is available in black, white, orchid and navy blue. Price on and partner retailers is €300/$300/£260.
