Galaxy S23 series gets big camera update

Samsung has started rolling out a major firmware update for the Galaxy S23 series. The new software has the version number S91xBXXU2AWF1. The changelog shows a file size of 2.2 GB and also confirms that the new firmware includes the latest June 2023 security patch.

The new firmware also brings the 2x portrait mode to the Samsung camera app, which first appeared in the rumor mill about four weeks ago. However, this mode is only available on the current top model, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The firmware update also fixes problems with the autofocus and HDR performance, which have each attracted attention with their own problems in the past few days. Finally, the new software also brings revamped night mode processing to the Samsung smartphones.

In addition, there are also improvements in haptics, UI animations and system stability. The new firmware update is currently being distributed in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. If there are no major problems, Samsung will expand the rollout to other regions in the coming days.
