The Galaxy S20 FE is the latest Samsung smartphone to receive the One UI 5 update. The new software, version number G780FXXUAEVK3, is for the Exynos 990 version of the phone and is just under 2GB in size. The firmware update also brings the latest November security patch and is currently being distributed to users in Europe and Russia. Other regions will follow in the coming days. The One UI 5 update is likely to be the last major Android OS update for the S20 FE, launched in 2020 with One UI 2.5 based on Android 10.

There is also another update for a Samsung tablet – the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite gets One UI 4.1.1 based on the tablet-optimized Android 12L. The update called P619XXU1AVJ2 is currently rolling through India and strangely enough only contains the September security patch. In addition, Samsung is currently only updating the LTE models, but the WLAN variants should follow suit soon.

Android 12L offers redesigned multitasking features with a taskbar and resizable windows. There’s also a new two-finger swipe gesture to switch between multitasking view and full-screen view. You can extract text from images, use an overhauled search function for the file browser and a new Samsung Internet browser.
