Honor today launched a new smartphone called the X50i+. It has a 108 megapixel main camera, a lightweight body and a relatively affordable price. The Honor X50i+ is based on a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. There is an 8 megapixel selfie camera in an oval cutout, which actually contains no other sensors.

MediaTek provides the appropriate chipset. It is a Dimensity 6080 paired with 12 GB of RAM and either 256 or 512 GB of storage. The Honor cell phone comes with MagicOS 7.2, which is based on the no longer up-to-date Android 13.

The camera design certainly looks interesting with the flattened circle, but the sensors behind it are nothing special. There is a 108 megapixel main camera with an f/1.75 aperture and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. But at least the X50i+ only weighs 166 grams and is only 6.78 mm thin with this setup. This makes it one of the lightest smartphones to come onto the market so far in 2023. The battery capacity is 4,500 mAh and the charging power is 33 watts.

The Honor X50i+ is available in China in four colors – powder gold and light blue with sparkling details, as well as more simple black and green. Prices start at CNY 1,599 (€205/$220) for the 256GB version and go up to CNY 1,799 (€231/$245) for the 512GB variant.
