The launch of the Asus ROG Phone 7 series is imminent – it should be this Thursday, April 13th. The design of the Asus smartphones has already been seen in photos taken by the Taiwan Cell Phone Authority. Now tipster Evan Blass has shown off official-looking renders of the two upcoming models. The Asus ROG Phone 7 and ROG Phone 7 Pro are both powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets, there’s no word on a Dimensity version yet. The new Pro model inherits a feature from last year’s ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, the AeroActive Portal.

The portal is a flap that opens to allow the AeroActive cooler more direct access to the chipset heatsink. Tests have shown that the cooler and the portal make a big difference in terms of sustained load on the Asus ROG Phone 7 Pro.

Judging by the new images, only the Asus ROG Phone 7 Pro gets the AeroActive Portal. It is also traditionally the only model with a second display on the back. The basic version usually gets RGB lighting instead. Asus will also offer a case and screen protector for the phones. The so-called Devilcase was also available for the ROG Phone 6, as was the screen protector.

Based on previous leaks, the ROG Phone 7 series has 6,000 mAh batteries that charge at 65 watts (20 V at 3.25 A). In addition, there are already rumors that 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED displays with 165 Hz are on board. The camera setup consists of a 50 megapixel main camera, a 13 megapixel ultra wide and a 5 megapixel macro camera.
