The highly anticipated new Apple MacBook Air 15 inch was officially launched today at the Apple WWDC launch event. More precisely, the new Retina display measures 15.3 inches, achieves a brightness of 500 nits and displays 1 billion colors. The bezels on the sides of the display are only 5 mm thin. A 1080p camera is housed in the slightly wider upper frame.

The Apple MacBook Air 15 inch is 11.5 mm thin and weighs only 1,496 grams. The new Apple notebook will be available in four colors: midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver. Like the 13-inch model, the 15-inch MacBook Air has an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU (4 powerful and 4 efficient cores), a 10-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. There is also 8 GB of unified memory on board, which can be expanded up to 24 GB.

Thanks to the M2 processor, the 15-inch Air lasts up to 18 hours on one battery charge. According to Apple, the new MacBook Air 15 is 12 times faster than the “fastest Intel-based MacBook Air” and twice as fast as the “best-selling 15-inch PC laptop with a Core i7 processor”. In terms of connectivity, it offers two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, a MagSafe charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. You also get 3 microphones and 6 speakers.

The Apple MacBook Air 15-inch is available for pre-order now, starting at $1,299 / €1,299. Shipping starts next week.
