Apple iPhone SE 4 should not come until 2024

According to a new report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple fell short of its mid-range sales expectations. We are talking about the sales figures for the affordable iPhone SE. As a result, Apple is expected to prioritize development and not launch the iPhone SE 4 until 2024.

The company needs to re-evaluate its strategy and pricing as the next-gen iPhone SE will have a new design with a display-only front. This in turn means higher production costs. According to the analyst, postponing the new iPhone SE 4 would help reduce “unnecessary spending on new product development”. It would also help Apple “overcome the challenges of the global economic recession in 2023”.

Apple iPhone SE 4 renders

Early renders indicated that the iPhone SE 4, which will likely be called the iPhone SE (2024), will be based on the iPhone XR. The X-Generation was the first to ditch Touch ID and instead use Face ID as the only method of biometric authentication.

Apple usually unveils the iPhone SE in spring. That means there’s still at least 15 months to go before the new model arrives. The chipset will most likely be the main change compared to the iPhone SE (2020). This should give the camera more computing power to take better pictures. Also, iOS should run smoother.
