The battery sizes for the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series were the subject of a new leak today. However, it is important to keep in mind that the source does not have a strong track record regarding the accuracy of their rumors. So take this with a greater dose of skepticism than we normally recommend. Accordingly, the iPhone 16 has a 3,561 mAh cell, 6% larger than that of its predecessor, while the iPhone 16 Plus will apparently make do with a 4,006 mAh battery. That’s 9% less than what the iPhone 15 Plus has to offer. It’s not uncommon for a new model to have a slightly smaller battery, but that doesn’t really happen very often.

On the Pro side, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro is said to have a 3,355 mAh battery under the hood. That’s 2.5% larger than on the iPhone 15 Pro. The Pro Max should bring a 4,676 mAh cell, which would be 5% larger than the iPhone 15 Pro Max cell. This is the first time that battery capacities for all four iPhone 16 models hit the internet. The numbers are consistent with a previous rumor. However, last time the capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro was missing.

As for the iPhone 16 Plus’s smaller battery, in real life that size difference could be made up for by a more efficient chipset. There is always potential for saving energy when it comes to the display. Therefore, even if the data is correct, you should take a relaxed approach to this leak.

The Apple iPhone 16 series should start at Apple’s annual hardware launch event this September.
