Apple iPhone 16: Protective cases show vertical camera module

The Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus get some new design features, but also inherit technology from the Pro models.
Apple iPhone 16

A few days ago, the first alleged cases for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro came to light – supposedly with the new capture button on the side. Today it is the turn of the non-Pro models in a second leak. You can see two cases that are supposedly intended for the base models – the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. They confirm the often discussed design change for the camera island of the two affordable iPhones. In addition, the camera module changes orientation and the two lenses are now arranged one above the other instead of diagonally.

In addition to the vertical camera setup, the flash is located in the middle right. The Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus also get two separate rings for the two cameras, which are housed in a pill-shaped raised surface. This gives the impression that Apple was inspired by the iPhone X when it came to design.

However, the point of the reorganization is so that the two phones that will be released this fall will be able to record spatial videos.

The Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus should also adopt the action button from the iPhone 15 Pro. The pressure-sensitive capture button, on the other hand, should be installed throughout the entire series. However, the iPhone design cycle is currently still in its early stages. A lot can change before the release, which usually takes place in September.
