Apple iPhone 15 series: what is known so far

The usually reliable source Apple Hub has rounded up the latest Apple iPhone 15 series rumors and leaks. In addition to various technical data, the collection also contains some references to the design of the coming Apple smartphones.

Apple iPhone 15 / iPhone 15 Plus

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 14, the Apple iPhone 15 will continue with 6.1 inches in size, while the Plus model will come in 6.7 inches, like the iPhone 14 Plus. However, both new models inherit the Dynamic Island from the current Pro models. There is a new design with 2.5D glass though – the sides of the iPhone 15 will be slightly curved even on the entry-level models.

The main camera also gets a Pro upgrade to the 48-megapixel sensor. The same happens with the chipset. In the new model, the A16 Bionic processor works together with the well-known 6 GB of RAM. The USB-C port comes as requirement by the new EU regulations, but the charging speeds should remain at those of the previous Lightning port.

In addition, a rumor about the camera module of the entry-level models came up today. If the reports about the new main camera are true, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will probably also get a new camera island – that of the current iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max. This would also go with the design change with the curved glass on the front.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro / iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max / Ultra will also stick to the familiar 6.1 and 6.7 inches. Of course, the Dynamic Island also stays on board. 2.5D glass is also coming into the new Pros, but there will also be an overall new design with thinner bezels. In addition, the successors of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max should be of significantly higher quality with a titanium frame and solid-state buttons.

The changes are even bigger on the back of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Here, the long-awaited periscope telephoto lens with 6x or 10x optical zoom is expected to celebrate its premiere. Both pros are powered by the new A17 Bionic chip, which is manufactured using the latest 3nm process. The RAM increases to 8 GB and the WLAN standard to WiFi 6E. The USB-C port is also a safe bet here, but it delivers Thunderbolt 3 speeds on the more expensive models.

We’ll know more in 7 months at the latest.
