The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could skip the solid-state buttons that have been buzzing the rumor mill for weeks. The revelation comes from well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In his latest report, Kuo writes of “unresolved technical issues” with the solid-state buttons. Therefore, the premium iPhone 15 models may come out with regular physical buttons after all.

In the last few weeks there have been various leaks that the volume rocker and the alarm slider of the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series are switching from classic, clickable buttons to capacitive buttons. Apple took the same step last year with the home buttons of the iPhone 14 series.

However, such a step would harm Apple’s suppliers. This includes Cirrus Logic, which should produce the dedicated microprocessor for the new keys. Another manufacturer is AAC Technologies, who offer Taptic Engines. Luxshare ICT falls into the same division. However, according to Kuo, Luxshare should probably be less affected due to a significantly larger product portfolio.

The new Apple iPhone 15 Pro buttons are still in the EVT development phase, the internal validation and testing phase. Therefore, a final decision may not have been made yet and the new technology is yet to come. On the other hand, if Apple sticks with regular buttons, there should be limited impact on mass production and the new iPhone Pro models should arrive on schedule.
