The Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will launch in September this year, following Apple’s normal pattern. According to previous rumors, both Pro models should be equipped with periscope lenses. Trusted analyst and Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo comes up with a different theory. According to Kuo, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a telephoto periscope lens.

Shortly after, another insider chimed in who also has a reasonably solid track record of Apple phones. Twitter user URedditor also thinks that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope camera. The source gave no further information about the periscope module and the associated sensor. And when asked if the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s camera layout will change with it, the answer was, “Not really.”
According to previous rumors, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max periscope telephoto camera will have 6x optical magnification. The predecessor iPhone 14 Pro Max has a regular zoom lens with 3x optical zoom. The resolution of the sensor is 12 megapixels. That being said, there have also been reports that Apple has contracted LG Innotek and Jahwa Electronics to manufacture 70% and 30% of the OIS actuators for the periscope module, respectively.
