Apple will announce new tablets on May 7th. Including the new Apple iPad Pro, but apparently not with the M3, but with an M4 chipset.
Apple iPad Pro OLED 2024 Event

Apple is finally announcing new tablets on May 7th. And of course, as always, the often-rumored next-generation Apple iPad Pro will be there in two sizes. A new report from Bloomberg’s usually reliable journalist Mark Gurman focuses on Apple tablet chipsets. According to this, the next iPad Pro could actually use Apple’s M4 chipset and skip the M3 completely.

Earlier this month, Gurman outlined the M4 processor’s release schedule, but it only referred to new Macs. The first of these should hit the market at the end of this year, followed by others in 2025. The new Apple iPad Pro with the M4, on the other hand, would be Apple’s “first truly AI-powered device,” according to Gurman. That could also explain why Apple is taking so much time with the new iPads.

According to a second leak, the upcoming Apple iPad Pro will also have the best OLED displays on the market. The statement comes from DSCC analyst Ross Young. Young claimed that the OLED panels on the upcoming iPad Pro tablets are “expected to be the best OLED tablet panels on the market.”

“Best OLED display on the market”

Young further said that these panels will feature “LTPO, 120Hz refresh, a tandem stack and glass thinning resulting in ultra-thin and light displays with high brightness, extended battery life and long lifetime.” Apple’s iPad is rumored to be Will be available in 11.1-inch and 12.9-inch sizes with smaller bezels in 2024. In addition to the new tablets, Apple is also expected to introduce a new Apple Pencil. It features pressure detection and integrated haptic feedback on May 7th.

The Apple tablet should not only be the most powerful, but also the thinnest iPad of all time. The full potential of the M4 chipset will be the central topic of Apple’s global developer conference in June. There, Apple wants to “focus on how the M4 chip and new iPad Pros will take advantage of the AI software and services coming as part of iPadOS 18 in the fall”.
