Apple iPad Fold: 18.8 and 20.25 inch models

The Apple iPad Fold would be the first truly new device from the Americans in years. Supposedly it will be ready in 2025 with an M5 chip.

A new report from renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals a little more about Apple’s future foldable hybrid device. He expects the company to launch not one, but possibly two Apple iPad Folds in the first half of 2026.

This is mostly in line with a recent rumor that the Apple iPad Fold will launch in late 2025 or early 2026. There are currently two form factors in the works – 20.25 inches and 18.8 inches. When folded, they shrink to 14-15 and 13-14 inches respectively.

Supply chain insights suggest that LG will be the sole supplier of these foldable displays. The panels themselves will likely be without any creases in the middle, driving up the cost. The panel is also paired with an expensive hinge and preliminary estimates are $600-650 for the panel alone and $200-250 for the hinge. Amphenol will be Apple’s hinge supplier. Both Apple iPad Fold tablets should get the Americans’ next generation of chips, the M5 series.

Ming-Chi Kuo also gives a vague estimate of the total cost. If early estimates are correct, the company’s first iPad Fold will launch at a similar price to the current Vision Pro headset. The latter has a hefty price tag of $3,499, which, as expected, caused demand to quickly subside. Accordingly, delivery numbers are likely to be higher than the Vision Pro, where they have reached around 1 million units so far.
