After announcing the Beta 1 release earlier this month, Apple today unveiled iOS 17 Beta 2 for developers and beta testers. The new firmware includes a redesigned update screen with more information about the beta software. Some of the key features from the WWDC announcement were also implemented.

There’s a new “Tap to AirDrop” feature that lets you initiate file transfers with a touch. Also, we get a new MicroLocation option in the location settings in iOS 17’s System Preferences. When enabled, the option can provide even more detailed location data for apps and location sharing. Message check-in is now also available for the Messages app, with the option to automatically send full or limited location data to contacts when they reach a pre-defined goal.

Sleep mode now supports the option to turn off all notifications in iOS 17 Beta 2. However, notifications classified as critical will continue to be delivered. Also, the Apple Music app now supports a switch to control the crossfade length between songs between 1 and 12 seconds. Finally, the Apple Music widget now offers new size options.
