The original Angry Birds was released in 2009 and later marketed as Rovio Classics: Angry Birds. Now the exploding birds are over: On February 23, 2023 the game will be discontinued and removed from the Google Play Store. The end of an era of one of the most popular video games in the world.

The message comes directly from the game’s developer, Rovio Entertainment. Rovio announced on Twitter that Angry Birds will soon no longer be listed in the Google Play Store. As of Thursday, the Play Store entry will be closed. But the game will be renamed “Red’s First Flight” in Apple’s App Store until further review.
Of course, those who have already downloaded and installed the game can continue to play it. Even after it has been removed from the Play Store. According to Rovio, the decision to take this step was made because of the “impact” on the rest of the game portfolio. Angry Birds 2, Dream Blast, Friends, Journey, Reloaded and Minecraft will remain available.
