All four Apple iPhone 16 models to get thinner bezels

The entire Apple iPhone 16 series is said to have thinner bezels around the displays. The Pro models also get larger displays.

High quality 3D renderings of the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max appeared back in January. They backed up previous reports that Apple would increase display sizes from 6.1 and 6.7 inches to 6.27 and 6.85 inches. Today there was new movement on the topic. Korean publication Sisa Journal-E quoted industry insiders as saying that Apple has developed a “Border Reduction Structure” (BRS) that does exactly what the name suggests. It makes the bezels smaller.

Accordingly, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25 mm and 163 x 77.58 x 8.25 mm, respectively. This makes them around 3 mm higher and 1 mm wider than the current models, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. According to current knowledge, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have the same display sizes as their predecessors. The refresh rate will also remain at 60 Hz. 120 Hz is only planned for the iPhone 17 generation.

Interestingly, heat dissipation proved to be a problem when reducing the frame. However, Apple has found a simple solution for the iPhone 16, which is being adopted by its three display suppliers: Samsung Display, LG Display and BOE. “Companies do not seem to view BRS technology as a very difficult technology,” said one insider. However, when mass production begins, Apple can change the distribution of production volumes between companies if one of them has problems.
