Argentina won the recent FIFA World Cup and, with the help of Lionel Messi, became world champions for the first time since 1986. The captain once again confirmed his status. Not only as the best player of his generation, but also as the GOAT for many football fans – as the best player of all times. Messi now decided to give something back to his teammates and staff. He gave them 35 personalized gold Apple iPhone 14 Pro phones.

Each Apple smartphone was custom-made with the name, number, logo of the Argentine Football Association (AFA – Asociacion del Futbol Argentino) and the logo of production partner iDesign Gold. The company’s founder posed with Lionel Messi and also posted an Instagram story. In it you can see the smartphones in a chic box with a certificate of authenticity and the matching 24-carat gold plaque on the back.

During production, the original backing is removed and the gold plate is used instead. There’s no word on which storage option Messi has opted for. When the seven-time Ballon d’Or and two-time World Cup Golden Ball winner presents you with a gold iPhone, you probably don’t ask.

Of course, while the ideal value is hard to beat with money, you can also buy your own custom iPhone 14 Pro 1TB for £4,000 from iDesign Gold. Thus, Lionel Messi spent £140,000 (about $170,000/€160,000) on his gifts.
