Garmin’s flagship smartwatch, the Enduro 3, was announced back in 2024, so it was high time for an upgrade. Here comes the Garmin Enduro 4 – a mature successor with twice the storage, more RAM, and several new features. Equally important, the Enduro 4 retains the same price as its predecessor, which is rare these days, especially given rising storage costs.

Garmin Enduro 4

The Garmin Enduro 4 now boasts 50% more RAM and twice the storage capacity at 64 GB. According to Garmin, this results in even smoother operation and 30% faster steering. It also features a new perspective view that lets you see further ahead on your route.

The battery life of the Garmin Enduro 4 remains unchanged, so you can expect 320 hours of activity tracking when using solar charging or 90 days in smartwatch mode under suitable sunlight conditions. At least, that’s what the manufacturer claims.

The Garmin Enduro 4 achieves this with a 1.4-inch MIP display and a Power Sapphire lens; OLED remains out of the question. Ultimately, Garmin prioritizes endurance and functionality.

Speaking of endurance: The Garmin smartwatch features two new battery modes – “Maximum Accuracy” and “Maximum Battery Life.” The former is designed for shorter activities with more precise tracking, while “Maximum Battery Life” maintains the backlight during events like ultramarathons.

Gradient-adjusted training goals and a rolling pace now take hills into account when assessing effort, while the new endurance zones and endurance curves show how your endurance changes over time or during a single activity. More tracking data is now collected for some existing activities, such as indoor rowing, which now displays VO2 max.

The watch’s design remains unchanged. Weighing in at 68 grams and with a 51mm case, it’s slightly heavier, but still features the titanium bezel, fiber-reinforced polymer case, 10 ATM water resistance, and LED flashlight. New is the ComfortFit fabric strap with QuickFit function, made from moisture-wicking material.

Garmin Approach S72

Alongside the Enduro 4, Garmin also presented the brand-new flagship watch, the Garmin Approach S72, which was specifically designed for golfers. It is available in 43 mm and 47 mm sizes and features an OLED display, the same sapphire crystal, a titanium bezel, and the ComfortFit textile strap.

Of course, the Garmin Approach S72 provides more data than just simple distance information. For example, the smartwatch tracks hand speed, backswing length, wrist rotation, and more. With a Garmin Golf membership, the S72 can also provide you with metrics for select golf courses, post-round analysis, and aerial images of the course to help you better plan your shots.

The Garmin Approach S72 is the company’s first golf watch with a speaker and microphone, allowing you to take calls directly from the watch. It also supports voice commands for certain functions. The 47mm version has a battery life of 20 hours on the course or up to 15 days without GPS.

The Garmin Enduro 4 will be released on October 9th and will cost 899 euros/US dollars, while the Approach S72 will be offered for 799 euros/US dollars.
