In his very first Power On podcast yesterday, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said he believes Apple will unveil the long-awaited 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro OLED Touch models in October or November of this year. “I think Apple will introduce its first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen this fall, possibly as early as October,” he said. “It could be pushed back to November, but not before October.”

Apple is testing the MacBook Pro OLED Touch models with macOS 27.2, which is currently in beta, he added. The software update is expected to be released at the end of October, so the touchscreen MacBook Pro models could potentially be unveiled later this month.

Other rumored features besides an OLED touchscreen include Apple’s existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a thinner design, and a Dynamic Island instead of a notch.

Several years ago, Gurman reported that Apple was exploring the idea of cellular Macs capable of connecting to a 5G or LTE network without an iPhone hotspot. Therefore, some Apple fans hope that the Apple MacBook Pro OLED Touch models will be equipped with Apple’s own C1X or C2 modem.

The Apple MacBook Pro OLED Touch models are expected to be positioned above the regular 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are rumored to be upgrading to the M7 Pro and M7 Max chips next year. It remains unclear whether the touchscreen models will continue to be marketed under the MacBook Pro name or whether Apple will opt for a separate designation such as MacBook Ultra.
