The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to launch in early 2027. It is rumored to feature a redesigned rear camera module and one fewer sensor than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Two new leaks now provide further information about the camera module’s design and the camera software of the Korean company’s next flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra camera software

According to the well-known leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature three notable changes to its camera software. First, the upcoming Ultra flagship is said to have a warmer color temperature than the cooler tones of previous Ultra models.

Secondly, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to offer improved highlight control (for very bright areas of the image), especially when photographing small, bright objects in the distance. This improvement is said to apply to both the main camera and the 5x telephoto lens.

Finally, the upcoming flagship is expected to deliver smoother images, especially in low light. Image noise in dark areas should also be reduced in photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Ice Universe also confirmed that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will only inherit the 5x telephoto camera from the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The main camera will reportedly use Samsung’s ISOCELL HP6 sensor, a modified version of the company’s HPC sensor.

Camera module

Previous rumors already suggested that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra would feature a redesigned camera setup, with an iPhone-like platform spanning almost the entire width of the back. The cameras within this platform would still be positioned on the left. According to the second new leak, the telephoto camera would be located on the right, with a microphone directly below it, followed by some unspecified “sensors,” and then the circular LED flash.

The source also notes that the microphone opening appears to be missing from the renderings recently released by Ice Universe. Ice Universe has responded, now claiming that the telephoto camera is located at the bottom of this setup, with the LED flash above it.

According to a recent certification, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 5,700 mAh battery with support for 60W wired charging. Rumors suggest it will be offered in three RAM/storage configurations, like its predecessor: 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB. The chipset remains a mystery – either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 or the Samsung Exynos 2700.
