Honor will present the Magic9 series on September 28th, and with the date only a few days away, the company continues to tease the upcoming smartphones.

Honor Magic9 Pro Max: Cinematic microphone and teleconverter

The Honor Magic9 Pro Max will be equipped with a cinema-quality microphone, and Honor’s “image innovator” Han Han has already described how it will deliver a dynamic sound experience in everyday use. This cinema microphone captures sounds from near and far – and every sound is crystal clear, whether it’s the smell of fried food, a coffee machine, or clothes fluttering in the breeze in the distance.

The clear and precise audio recording is obviously a great help when recording videos. The Honor Magic9 Pro Max also integrates ARRI’s color technology, making, as the company says, “everyday life look like a movie.”

The Honor Magic9 Pro Max will also support a teleconverter, and as you can see in the image above, the other two cameras are not obstructed when it’s attached. However, the field of view of the main camera and the ultrawide lens will likely be somewhat limited due to the length of the telephoto lens.

Honor Magic9 Prices

Honor CEO Li Jian also announced the price for the standard Magic9 model, specifically the version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The regular price is 6,499 CNY (850 euros/968 US dollars). However, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Magic series, there will be a special offer for 5,999 CNY (784 euros/893 US dollars). Thanks to a government subsidy in China, the price will even drop to 5,499 CNY (719 euros/819 US dollars).

For comparison: The recently released vivo X500 costs 5,999 CNY (784 euros/893 US dollars) and is available with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage (a 16 GB variant is not available). The directly comparable vivo X500 Pro with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs 7,999 CNY (1,046 euros/1,191 US dollars) – the same price as the Xiaomi 18 Pro – while the Oppo Find X10 is offered for 6,499 CNY (850 euros/968 US dollars).

Rumors suggest that the Magic9 will feature a 6.37-inch LTPS OLED display with a resolution of 1236 x 2664 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a 200 MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and a 1/1.56-inch sensor, and a 55 MP square-format selfie camera.

Power is supplied by an 8,000 mAh battery with support for 80-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging. However, a Super Edition with an 11,000 mAh battery is also planned. The Honor Magic9 Pro Max and the remaining models in the series will be officially unveiled on September 28th.
