Apple iPad 12 appears in code with A19 chip, 8 GB RAM, N1 and C1X modem
According to a new leak taken directly from Apple’s source code, the next affordable Apple iPad 12 will be equipped with the A19 chip, a C1X modem, an N1 network chip, and 8 GB of RAM.
Some of these specifications have already circulated in previous rumors, so this is more of a confirmation than a new leak. The current iPad 11 is equipped with an A16 chip, so the upgrade to the A19 in the 12th-generation iPad will bring a noticeable performance boost. More importantly, however, the A19 supports Apple Intelligence. Therefore, the Apple iPad 12 will have all the Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features that the iPad 11 lacks.
The iPad 11 has 6GB of RAM, but 8GB is the minimum for Apple Intelligence, and upgrading the RAM will further boost performance. Apple’s C1X modem supports sub-6GHz 5G networks and is more efficient than the Qualcomm modem in the current iPad. The additional N1 network chip enables support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Apple iPad 12: New colors, same price, available from spring 2027
Even though it’s not in the code, new colors for the Apple iPad 12 are a likely guess, as with most of Apple’s product launches. However, there’s no information yet on when Apple will release the new iPad, and we currently don’t expect it before spring 2027. The current iPad, after a price increase in June 2026, starts at €499/$449, and the new model is expected to have the same starting price.
No budget iPad is expected this year, but Apple is likely to update the iPad mini before the end of October. It will feature an A20 Pro chip, a new speaker system, and a rear-facing camera in landscape orientation. Previous rumors suggested the most significant upgrade would be an OLED display.
We’ve also found official images of the iPad mini 8, the Apple TV 4K 2, and the HomePod mini 2, including color information. The HomePod mini will be available in green, pink, blue, white, and black.
