vivo OriginOS 7 based on Android 17 is here
vivo today launched its new flagship smartphones, the vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max, as well as the new vivo Watch 6, in China. In addition, the company also unveiled the latest version of its user interface: vivo OriginOS 7, based on Android 17.
vivo OriginOS 7 offers an exceptionally smooth and intuitive user experience, designed for optimal touch responsiveness, fluid movements, and high performance under full load. It’s engineered to function flawlessly even after six years of daily use. The goal in developing OriginOS 7 was to make using your smartphone as easy as possible.
vivo OriginOS 7 with Origin Smooth Engine
The next-generation Origin Smooth Engine is integrated and offers “a comprehensive architectural redesign for graphics calculations, memory management and system planning”, while Ultra-Core Computing dynamically allocates processing resources where demand is highest, ensuring that the system remains responsive even in the most demanding scenarios.
According to vivo, OriginOS 7 offers 10% faster cold-start times for apps and 11% faster page turns compared to its predecessor. Memory Fusion significantly optimizes memory management and allocation, resulting in 60% better memory utilization and up to 25GB of additional storage on a 256GB device. A new rendering pipeline has improved rendering efficiency by 14.4%.
In vivo OriginOS 7 follows the principles of natural physics for every swipe, tap, and transition action, while Fluid Motion introduces fluid-inspired dynamics that allow surface elements to stretch, bounce, and organically merge as they follow the speed and direction of the finger.
vivo OriginOS 7 pairs with an Apple Watch and displays notifications, while key workout and health data syncs directly with the Origin Health app. AirPods battery level is shown in Origin Island, and spatial audio is also supported. The vivo OfficeKit remains available for iPad, macOS, and Windows users to connect their smartphones to other devices. Data stored in iCloud can be accessed via the vivo file manager.
vivo Jovi Assistant
vivo’s Jovi, the cross-device personal assistant, is integrated into OriginOS 7 and OfficeKit. Jovi can coordinate tasks across connected vivo smartphones and computers and also supports scheduled tasks. Every autonomous action taken by Jovi is “explicitly logged, fully transparent, and requires direct user authorization for critical steps.”
Furthermore, the Wiggle theme transforms photos into interactive, fluid surfaces that ripple, compress, and rebound when touched; the Glint theme uses the gyroscope to cast realistic lights and shadows onto wallpapers when the device is tilted; StickIt lets you create multi-layered, dynamic collages of photos and Live Photos on your lock screen, home screen, and always-on display; Pet Pals brings your screen to life with interactive pets that dynamically react to device movements, charging status, music playback, and the transition from day to night.
vivo OriginOS 7 will be available from today as part of a preview program (i.e., open beta) for the vivo X300 Pro and “selected iQOO devices” in India, Thailand and Malaysia.
